In the age of technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a go-to tool for many tasks. Its power is undeniable for enhancing efficiency. Yet, there are several key things that it cannot do for you when planning travel….
Before diving into those reasons, let me clarify that I am not anti-AI. I actually love it for certain aspects of my life and use it regularly. However as a travel professional, I know the critical areas that it falls short in travel planning. I’m sharing those with you today so you can be aware!
1. AI Doesn’t Solve Problems On the Go
AI does not solve your problems while in travel. You can’t turn to ChatGPT or Gemini to figure out how to reschedule your trip when a hurricane is looming or if you have a medical emergency while in travel. 🆘
2. AI Can Provide Inaccurate Information
Looking for a 1-day itinerary at Magic Kingdom? Ask AI to pull up one and you will have outdated information, and no mention of the newest attractions. Trust me, I’ve looked! AI’s data might not always be current or comprehensive, which can lead to a less-than-ideal travel experience. 🫠
3. AI Doesn’t Clarify Terms and Conditions
AI isn’t going to breakdown the terms and conditions for you. While you could technically pull them up via a large language system, there’s no guarantee they are up-to-date or accurate. And even if they are, do you really want to decipher a mile long cancellation policy? 😵💫 Terms and conditions are not really something that AI can simplify for you. Understanding the fine print requires a human touch.
4. AI Requires Specific Instructions
When using AI, you have to be super specific with your preferences or you will get an output that is a misinterpretation of what you are requesting. ⛔ On the other hand, a travel agent knows exactly what questions to ask YOU in order to find the ideal vacation for your dates, budget, and family size. 📋
5. AI Lacks Personal Connection
Probably most importantly, AI has no personal connection. It’s not going to ask your child’s favorite interests are or provide firsthand recommendations, pointers, or tips and tricks. It’s not going to build your plans based on personal touches. This can make a world of difference when you are hoping your ideal vision matches your vacation reality. 🙅♀️
Using a Travel Agent
While AI offers efficiency, it cannot replace the human connection that adds value to travel planning. Letting a travel expert handle the details can save you time and ensure a more personalized experience.
